[She's silent for a moment while she tries not to blow the fuck up at Ichigo.]

Where are you.

[Yeaaaah, he knows that silence. Let's talk more before she explodes.]

I stopped over at work-Needle in a Haystack?-this morning, and he was asleep on his desk. So I got him over to a bed, because I thought he just crashed because he hadn't slept, or...something. I just came here to check on him, and he's still asleep.

[Look, he's not happy about this either, ok?]

[That's better. Her deep breath is audible as she closes her eyes and calms down slightly. Or tries to.]

And from what you can tell, he's just asleep?

[suppressthedark]

It sure seems like it, anyway. He snored a couple of times.

[...What it's the truth]

[...she knows he snores.

She sighs.]

I'll be there soon.

[suppressthedark]

Alright. I'll stay here until you get here.

[canmakemore]

Va bene.

[And she ends the call. She'll be there soon.]

[Well, good. He'll just be waiting by a counter in the actual shop area, looking for her to come by.]

[When she enters, she's a little out of breath. Clearly she's just dropped everything to run here, or at least walk here very quickly.

She doesn't waste any time. She strides up to Ichigo and breathlessly asks,]

So? Where is he?

[suppressthedark]

[Welp. That at least, he expected.]

He's in the back. C'mon.

[And away they go, to the back room. And, true to his word, there is currently one Ezio Auditore fast asleep on the bed.

...Although he kind of looks like he got tossed on there. Ichigo didn't even cover him up, rude.]

[Caterina follows Ichigo and when they reach Ezio, she stands for a moment, taking in the situation. She kneels beside the bed and checks his breathing and pulse, then stands and nods.]

He's been like this since this morning?

[While she talks she starts adjusting him on the bed a little, shifting him over so he's lying on his back, pulling the covers over him, making sure the pillow is underneath his head, that sort of thing.]

Yeah. I just thought he'd wake up in the middle of the day, but...

[He looks away, shrugging helplessly.]

When he didn't, I knew that was when I should get a hold of you.

[Once Ezio looks... comfortable, Caterina slowly sits down on the the bed. She's looking at him, noticing how calm he looks, how peaceful.

Quietly, she says,]

Grazie, Ichigo.

[Then, as if she's just realized he's witnessed her having a tender moment, she stands up again and looks at Ichigo, all seriousness again.]

I'm going to stay with him.

[suppressthedark]

...It's nothing. All I did was just get him to a bed.

[And get crushed I MEAN-

But he nods.]

Alright. That's probably for the best, anyway.

[canmakemore]

It was enough. We don't know how long he'll be asleep.

[She sounds worried. But damn if she's going to let that rule her. She takes a breath and steels herself and nods.]

Va bene. Stay if you like, but I will let you know if... something happens.

[Like if he wakes up. Or dies.]

[He doesn't want to think about that. Doesn't even want to think about the possibility, but...]

....Okay. Thanks.


I think...I'm going to go. I still have a couple of things I've got to do.

[He looks at her.]

But I'll stop in at least once every day.

[Because like hell he's going to just not check up on him.]

[She nods. She's not thinking about it either. She's refusing to think about it.]
